Rides on the Turntable

Hop inside one of our open-air historic cars and go on a a few turns on the Museum’s historic 1911 turntable. As this unique experience takes place, connect the importance of turntables and roundhouses with railroad history and railroad operation.

Take a ride on a turntable

Spin like a record... or a locomotive!

No reservations are needed and this event is free for everyone. Rides will depart approximately every 15 minutes.

The line to board will be at the Central Pacific Passenger Station at the corner of Front and J Streets in Old Sacramento (Click here for a google maps link.)

This experience is available for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that this may impact individuals who are susceptible to dizziness.

Accessibility

Due to the historic nature of the coaches, all passengers must be able to climb a narrow set of stairs to board the coaches. Due to limited aisle widths, wheelchairs, mobility devices, and strollers are not permitted on the coaches. Temporary storage for devices is provided at the passenger station.
