Ride in a First Class Car

The French Quarter

The 1950 French Quarter Car was inspired by the New Orleans French Quarter, with wrought iron details and a “Sunset Pink” painted ceiling studded with stars. Complete with its own serving bar, the French Quarter has large windows and a combination of tables, settees and lounge-style chairs.

Dress in your finest attire

We encourage everyone on this train ride to dress in their most elegant, fancy, or over-the-top attire. Maybe dressed in the opulence of the 1860s (like the Stanfords!), or with finery from the 2020s, or anything in between.

Fancy dress is not required to partake in this train ride.

This special excursion train is part of a joint promotion between the California State Railroad Museum, Sacramento History Museum, and Leland Stanford Mansion.
