SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California State Railroad Museum and Foundation are excited to announce a fun-filled “Game Night at the Museum” on Thursday evening, July 17, 2025. The special event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Open to gamers 18+, “Game Night at the Museum” will include games provided by Sacramento's Galaxy Game Café, Capital Pinball Parlor, and the California State Library. Popular and retro games of skill or chance will include dice and card games, pinball, plus other tabletop games that cross an array of genres and number of players. The special event coincides with a variety of other Third Thursday activations happening throughout the Old Sacramento Waterfront district that evening.
Most of the Game Night activities will take place in the Museum’s spacious Roundhouse area while surrounded by impressive historic locomotives, exhibits, and rail-related artifacts. Then, in the Museum’s East Theater, gamers of a different breed can test their skills in a high-energy Mario Kart™ Tournament for a chance to win the grand prize of two first-class tickets aboard a weekend excursion train ride (date/time of winner’s choosing, based on availability).
In addition to lively game play, camaraderie, and an opportunity to win an amazing grand prize, each Game Night ticket includes either one alcoholic drink OR a soft drink and a snack pack. Each guest 21+ will have the opportunity to purchase up to two more alcoholic drink tickets ($10 per ticket). Any guest can purchase additional soft drinks ($3) and a snack pack ($7). The pop-up bar for the evening will be hosted by Acheson Wine Company and will include Midtown Rose, Whip Chardonnay, and Overlord Cab (for 21+ attendees).
“Game Night at the Museum” tickets cost $30 per person for non-members or $25 per person for those with a current Museum membership.
