Southern Pacific 4294: The Last Cab Forward
BY SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT WITH THE SP HISTORICAL SOCIETY!
Southern Pacific engine 4294, the last of 256 cab forward locomotives, is displayed here at the California State Railroad Museum.
SP 4294 is the host for this living documentary featuring the operating practices of retired engineer and fireman Vincent Cipolla. Vincent operated these massive machines between 1945 and 1956 when the last of them were retired from the San Joaquin Division. This inspection and overview of mechanical operation of a cab forward has never been presented in such great detail before.
A complete fireman's inspection, overview of operating practices, and a description of the major appliances accompany historic photos, sound, and narration as Vince leads a tour of this unique survivor.SKU: 2319-dvd
