Railroad Museum Welcomes Two Special Guest Readers for All Aboard for Story Time! in November

Michael Ramirez from the State Indian Museum on 11/14 & Mayor Darrell Steinberg on 11/21

SACRAMENTO, Calif. The California State Railroad Museum is excited to welcome two special guest readers for the popular All Aboard for Story Time! this month – Michael Ramirez from the California State Indian Museum on November 14 and Mayor Darrell Steinberg on November 21.

Michael Ramirez is a local Maidu traditionalist and cultural practitioner in addition to a Park Interpretive Specialist at the California State Indian Museum. The tribal story he will share on November 14 is of the land and people, one that has been told for generations. This joint program allows children to learn about and appreciate the land that the railroads – and our museums – were built on. There will be multiple engaging opportunities for children to participate in the storytelling on this special day.

A returning Story Time! guest reader – the first time in-person – City of Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg will read two entertaining children’s books on November 21, titled The Turkey Train and I Love Trains! After the special reading by the mayor, a related interactive activity will be available for the young children to participate in before exploring the Museum with their parents.

The year-round All Aboard for Story Time! program takes place inside the museum every Monday at 11 a.m. Designed for toddlers and preschoolers (approximately 18 months to 5 years old), Story Time! helps to bring railroad-themed books to life with an engaging reading followed by a related activity.

Whether it’s toy trains or big locomotives, there is always something to discover in the California State Railroad Museum – North America’s most popular railroad museum – that will thrill children (and adults) of all ages. The All Aboard for Story Time! program is included with museum admission: $12 for adults; $6 for youths ages 6-17; free for children ages 5 and under.
